Hello and welcome! This is a chance for everyone in our community to get to know each other; to say hi if you’re new, if you’re re-joining us, if you’re been lurking, and for anyone who fancies a chat.

It’s an open to all, friendly (pun intended) event! If you make new friends here feel free to join the be_compromised community and/or friend each other on various platforms, or not - there’s no pressure, we’re just here to have fun. You can find examples of previous friending memes here.

A bit about be_compromised: an introduction to our community, the community rules, and some useful links are available here. This includes a link to the handy Username Database - if you use multiple platforms it’s useful to add or update your usernames / online handles here. You can find our community on dreamwidth, discord (how to join the discord here), and tumblr. Big events, like the yearly promptathon (2024 edition taking place now!) and the secret santa fic exchange, are advertised across all three platforms. Most chatting happens on discord. Feel free to spend time with us on as many or as few platforms you like.

Your mods are inkvoices, cloud-atlas (on discord and tumblr) / franztastisch (on dreamwidth), and gsparkle (on discord and DW) / quidnunc-life (on tumblr). Feel free to reach out to us on any platform you see us, but you’re most likely to find us on discord or in a ‘questions/general comments’ thread at the top of event posts on dreamwidth.

How to play:

1) Copy and paste the below questions and formatting from the box below into a new comment reply to this post, as the start of a new comment thread. (The bold sections between the triangle brackets are the questions. The extra info in normal brackets are some helpful suggestions; feel free to delete those parts if you don’t need them!)

2) Answer as many / as few of the questions as you like / feel comfortable with and hit post! All questions are optional.

3) Chat with the people who reply to your comment.

4) Reply to other people’s comments to have a chat with them. You might want to comment on one of their answers where you think you have a mutual interest, or something made you smile, or you just want to say ‘hi’. It’s all good!

A note on ‘OPTIONAL things about me’: while ALL of the questions are optional, as someone from the school of ‘don’t share personal identifying information on the internet’ I want to emphasise that this freestyle space is especially optional. If you like, this is where you can share anything extra that you would like people to know about you, that you think it would be useful to know, or that you would just like to share. This could be, for example, your preferred pronouns, a general location/timezone, how frequently you’re online, what people might expect to find on your blog… a cute picture of a pet, a favourite gif… you name it.
