Your Favorite Stories
And yes, it really is that hard to narrow it down. (Of course!) That being said, what are your favorite stories in this fandom? I limited mine to six, because otherwise it would become a VERY long list, but there is no punishment for posting more. :-) Your choices could be there for personal reasons, excellent writing, you like the theme, whatever. You don't have to think that anyone else will appreciate it as much as you do. Maybe it includes stories you think fandom has overlooked. Doesn't matter. This is your opinion and whatever you say goes!

Offer any appropriate warnings. Include links so that everyone else in the bar can enjoy your choices!

This is sort of my version of the all-inclusive, open invitation, day-late Friday Fic Recs. :D Mods, please let me know if this needs to be altered in any way!

My Favorites: using categories made it easier for me to narrow it down. You can choose however you want. :-)

Finally Get Together: Rest for the Weary At FF.net by [livejournal.com profile] workerbee73
I eat up this theme like cupcakes at a Weight Watchers convention, but this is my favorite. It's in character, believable and ultimately satisfies my need for genuine-without-being-sappy fluff. :-)

Hurt/Comfort: Partners At FF.net by Dr. Nat
Clint endures torture b/c he won't give up Natasha. She goes to save him. Yes, it is that awesome.

Crossover: Brown & Gold At AO3 by [livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch
Crossover with the Dragonriders of Pern. Darn near perfect cross between the two.

AU: Naked Pantomime in the Dark At AO3 by samalander
High school AU set in a high school Drama department. Yes, I'm a high school Drama teacher. Yes, I'm biased. Yes, it's still a really, really well-written AU. :D

Crack: Cupid At FF.net by AlphaKantSpell
Clint is a Cupid (complete with tiny wings). The premise is freakishly brilliant and well-written – it's almost scary good. Occasionally a little OOC, but I just don't care.

Secret Relationship: Hallelujah At FF.net by starstrucklilly
They're not trying to hide their relationship; the others just don't see it. The way they're found out is one of the VERY BEST ways EVER. (Sequel to Between, which is also very good, but which you don't have to read to appreciate Hallelujah.)

There are obviously many others that I love, but I'm hoping keeping it to a manageable number will enable everyone to respond and share the love. I hope you do!

er.... just recently joined this community and am devouring as much C/N fic as possible?

my favorites so far:

Culture and Other Balls of Twine (http://archiveofourown.org/works/442795/chapters/756590). This just made me laugh and laugh.
It was immediately clear who did the undercover work in the Barton-Romanov partnership - Barton was a horrible liar.

"The Colonel decided we didn't look busy, I was an innocent bystander."
"You were in his ceiling."
"It's roomy - I recommend it for all your surveillance needs."
She shot him a flatly unimpressed look. "I'll stay with the undercover details, thank you."
"What kind of person prefers ambassadorial parties to vents?"

All Your Metal Armor" (http://archiveofourown.org/works/422116?view_adult=true)

More than once she has fought at his back while he drew his bowstring endlessly, unguarded, until his fingers were cut through to the bone. Until his blood soaked the string and misted the air with each vibration.

Any Way I do (http://archiveofourown.org/works/400771)

“I’m not getting married,” Steve says. “I wouldn’t even know how,” he trails off. Tony thinks he might have been watching too much The Bachelor.
“I know how!” Thor says, excited because he can’t usually contribute to these conversations. “You go the place of governance,” he tells Steve, earnestly. “You and your beloved take vows before a man of the justice and the peace.”
Tony squints at him. “That’s not insanely wrong,” he says, confused.
“With a witness,” Thor continues, “who signs the parchment and promises to tell no one. This is an honored task.”

Clint has trouble keeping his towel on his hips, nearly giving them all a glimpse of more marital equipment.

Exercising Restraint (http://archiveofourown.org/works/463642/chapters/799980) One of my all-time favorites and one I read and reread often. I have a HUGE competency kink - I love when Clint and Natasha are written to be extremely skilled and competent - and this one hits all my marks. Kidnapped Clint that doesn't just wait to be rescued. Natasha, working on retrieving him while simultaneously running an important mission halfway across the world, Tony being smart and capable. If you haven't read it, please please do.

This was the world of his nightmares, the world where what he saw never quite fit with what he was hearing.

Nat whirled on him. “No! This can’t be an Avengers thing,” she snapped. Enough of her anger flared out at him that Tony took an involuntary step backwards. Exhaling sharply, she forced herself back under control. “They were going into a very unstable area. That means a light touch, Stark.”
Bruce snorted softly. “And you’re coming to me for that?”

An Arrow, Discarded (http://archiveofourown.org/works/421467?view_adult=true) Raw, painful, almost-not-quite-death story. Amazingly well done.

He is Clint Barton and he is Hawkeye and he is Loki and he is a rime of blue ice

"Do me a favor and stop telling me what I want," she says shortly, which is so authentically Natasha that he immediately feels more at ease, because maybe not everything has changed, so when she kisses him again he is a willing participant.

(oh, dear. I really got word-y there, didn't I. sorry)
