This has been driving me loopy! I've tracking about 6 tags on tumblr because there isn't a consistent shipname. It would be great if tumblr allowed slashes in their tags but since they don't that is when we get the portmanteau names.

I don't like Blackeye. Mostly because you end up with pictures of black eyes in the tumblr tag and I could do without seeing that.

So, yeah...Clintasha seems like the neatest portmanteau but BlackHawk is cool, too. But if not for tumblr being the centre of my internet universe, I would totally just use Clint/Natasha or Natasha/Clint.

I kind of love BlackEye because of the hilarity factor, but I haven't been tracking it on Tumblr, and I can definitely see a potential downside. O_o Right now I've only tracked 'clint barton' and 'natasha romanoff'-- I should probably track more though.

I'm cool with BlackHawk though. It does sound pretty badass. But I agree-- we need some internet consensus, yo. ;)

Yes, this to Blackeye. The name itself isn't a problem, but how it would be used and the likelihood of domestic violence jokes makes me cringe. We really could do without that.

I think that's a fair point. And of course with these two and the fact that they exist in a very violent world I don't think it's particuarly problematic in and of itself, but there's always the possibility of that being misconstrued.

I agree. I don't think the name itself is a bad idea. I just think that there are people out there who will use it in bad ways. And when there is another name that works (if we really need a name at all), I don't really see the need to make it easy for those people.

I'll say Clintasha, because of obvious reasons xD I don't like Blackeye (selenityshiroi explained the reason perfectly) and about BlackHawk... well, it reminds me of the movie Black Hawk Down, so I don't like it either.

It would be great to agree on this, though. Too many tags to track on Tumblr xD

I voted for both BlackHawk and BlackEye, but my heart is with the latter.

I'm quite cool with ship names that are stealth ship names, i.e. you might not realise it's a ship name if you're not already shipping.

My heart is with the latter too, but that is because we are DEMENTED, DEMENTED PILOTS SHIPPERS, my friend. It's such a disease. ;)

But I think if you're going to go with a stealth name (which I prefer too), I'd probably go with Blackhawk. I feel like the other one probably requires too much explanation.

Word on the dementia, bb. There is no cure for them, not unless someone wants to do a cognitive recalibration on me and even then that'd probably just lead to fresh pain on rediscovery, ha.

And yeah, a stealth name (even apart from my pilots bias) is much more apropos here, they're trained assassins/spies (well she is) anyway.

I'm not a huge fan of ship names. Why not just use the names or initials? But if I had to pick, it would be BlackHawk.

I think it's just the way of the internets. There's a tendency to want a name (of course, whether this is needed and/or advisable is an entirely different matter *g*). So I figure if a name is inevitable, we might as well help shape it.

I suppose. And at least BlackHawk doesn't make me wince and actually sounds kind of cool. I'm just used to fandoms where the names are really bad (Destiel? Really?))

Ah, I hadn't spotted that there might be a problem on places like tumblr with 'blackeye' so thanks selenityshiroi for pointing that one out! Personally, Blackeye reminds me of the Florence and the Machine song, Kiss With A Fist, and Blackhawk makes me think of a war film, which, yeah, probably appropriate, but not that kind of war *grins*.

I've been thinking Clint/Natasha or Natasha/Clint, nice and straightforward, but I like what winegums says about stealth names for ships though :D which is one of the reasons I love that this comm is be_compromised. So, 'compromised' or 'budapest' or something?

Regardless, more Clint and Natasha in all forms is good, good, good :D

There's one I thought of but forgot to mention-- I love simply referring to them as Assassins or Master Assassins. Just 'cause. :)

That one *checks* is from black_eyedgirl who recently did a small set, with some nice Clint/Natasha variations. But yeah, I have more icons up as well. So much pretty to play with :D

I'm just blown away by all the fabulous artwork that keeps coming out. SO MUCH PRETTY indeed. :)

Personally I like BlackHawk, because it sounds badass. BlackEye can be taken out of context too easily. I'm also okay with Clintasha or plain old Clint/Natasha or Natasha/Clint.

I think we've just got to get the interwebs to settle on one and make our lives a whole lot simpler. ;)

No, I completely understand. Definitely could have bad connotations. I just happen to be ridiculously amused by it because it remind me of an old ship of mine (Kara/Lee from BSG) who had a propensity to punch each other on occasion. God, that sounds awful when I say it out loud. It's really not that bad. Promise. :)

I think BlackEye is hilarious and it never fails to crack me up but I totally get its negative connotation too. BlackHawk sounds pretty bad ass so that's probably the best of the bunch IMO but I sort of follow them all since it seems like everyone is calling them something different so I say love them all.
