My Natasha is a big tea drinker. She drinks coffee on the job because she appreciates the caffeine kick, but not the coffee they serve in the SHIELD cafeteria. She maintains that that liquid is not coffee.

Definitely Natasha/books OTP. She likes classics. My Natasha also appreciates poetry.

I love Natasha/Languages OTP.

The identity issues are mostly fanon extrapolating from the hints in the film and comics canon. In the comics her identity and control issues vary according to who's writing her. Some comic authors like Marjorie Liu handle it beautifully, others... not. As for fanon, I've seen it enough that I think we can call it a thing. It's definitely one of my favourites.

Two words: rope fic.

Is it just me or is the Clint/ Natasha fandom in tumblr and A03 growing at speed? I think (hope?) the prompthathon/ community awesomeness has made C/N way more popular. I try not to get competitive, but how awesome would it be if a ship with a woman in it (our ship!) became the most popular in Avengers fandom, which is chock a block full of potential slash pairings?? I've just spent way too much time in fandom searching for fic that isn't all about the guys, and it's really nice not having to do that.

Yeah I'm one of the weird ones in this bar in that I am normally a full on hetshipper but the Clint/Coulson fandom on AO3 has totally given me all the cuddles for that pairing, so for once the amount of slash in the fandom is OK for me as long as it's that flavor of slash lol.

...but then I'm totally on board for Clint/Tasha and Clint/Darcy and/or triofic of any of the above really.

I suppose Clint is becoming a very particular little black dress for me lol. He's far more of what is "popular" for me that any specific pairing. As long as it's well written, I'll show up to the party lol.

So I heart cliches - I can readily admit it!

Particularly in this fandom I fall for Clint+Music=OTP; Clint+toolbelt/handyman; Clint being deaf (cannon supported though he did eventually STOP being deaf but hey I can handwave it away lol); Clint+random strays be they puppies, kittens, or Tasha lol; Clint and Tony being carbros and relatedly Clint jacking any one of Tony's cars just for the fun of it lol. I'm sure there are more but that works for now.

Tasha is much much harder for me to slip into the head of, though I can say, I rarely hear her in my head as Natasha. It's usually Nat or Tasha - but then I'm a nickname junkie for some reason. I think the one cliche that I love for her is that she still dances ballet despite, or maybe because she knows those memories were never real. She's TAKEN those memories and made them her's, no matter what Red Room intended. But then I'm a sucker for dancers so it works lol

omg yes-- Clint + deafness. i love it when this gets referenced in fic. LOVE.

and really yes to anything else. lol, about the strays. i think he's got some serious savior issues going on. ;)

First time commenting here. I have to say that I delayed a much as possible to watch Avengers for the first time because I knew, without a doubt that it would suck me in. I thought it would be Thor, because Chris is gorgeous and yes I'm really shallow, but oh was I misteken!!!!

When the scene of Clint straped to a bed fighting what was left of Loki in his mind and Natasha just there. I was like: WOW!!!! They are totaly into each other.

For the record I never read any of the comics and had only saw Thor and Captain America movies before watching Avengers for the first time 8 days ago.

Also I'm a slasher at heart. I read only slash, I make only slash art! Imagine my surprise in discovering I totaly shipped Clint and Natasha.

As for recs, searching the tags is a pretty good place to start. We've tried to be pretty detailed to help you find whatever category you might be looking for.

As for the dark!fic categories you mentioned, I can't thinkn of any of those off the top of my head other than fics that cover the fallout from Clint and the Loki stuff. Check

Clint, Nat and dancing - it's seriously one of my favorite things and I could abuse this in every damn fic I write. There's sensuality, physical closeness, implicit trust, touch; they do it for comfort (mostly), or one teaches another how to dance or something. I don't care as long as they hold each other and dance.

Clint, Nat and kids - I am one of those people, yes. I love them as parents, seeing how they deal with that (because it's really testing their limits, but also it's beautiful seeing how tender they both can become), and that's another thing I really like writing and reading.

Clint and music. Old rock, country, Johnny Cash, The Eagles, Springsteen, and anything that requires amazing vocal abilities. (Like Toto's "Africa", lol).

Natasha reclaiming and rebuilding herself. It's a theme that pretty much always comes into play when I write, and I love it because it requires so much personal strength. I think the fact that she reclaimed herself shows just how strong she is, so yeah. One of my very favorite things.

Clint, Nat and team friendships! I like exploring different relationships they form with other Avengers. :)

That's a thing actually, how fanon is the Clint-as-a-discraced-or-otherwise-soldier? And how fanon is Coulson as Clint's handler? Because they're so often used that they're basically canon to me, apart from Coulson isn't Marvel original is he? And did Clint joint the army?

For Natasha I like Natasha/Pepper friendships. Or whenever someone actually makes a believable friendship between Nat and another female character. Dunno if that is fanon or not, but I like it.

I don't know about soldier, but the first line of his official profile (from Marvel’s The Avengers: Second Screen app) is "Agent Clint Barton was hand-picked from [CLASSIFIED] by Director Fury", so he was doing SOMETHING beforehand...

Okay, so I love Clint and Natasha as much as most here, and I've shipped them for a long time from the comics, but as far as fandom cliches go, I got just the tiniest bit tired of the "Tony makes Clint and Natasha admit to their feelings" fic (even though I generally love those stories and eat them with a big spoon) the other day and wrote this off the cuff. -- foreign languages - both of them are huuuuuuuuge polyglots that would give Daniel Jackson a run for his money, and they tend to use other, more obscure (to the situation) languages as terms of endearment and to say Important Emotional Things.

-- Clint as the kind of all-american americana guy in his downtime

-- Natasha = dancer YES

-- that oral sex is a Thing for them (and a trust thing)

-- They are only moderately under SHIELD's control

-- That they have a long term relationship (maybe even marriage) that they don't deny but don't advertise and the other Avengers find out (usually through various hijinks).

Clint or Natasha helping the other with bathing or shower while the other is injured. (Or just sharing a bath or shower).

Natasha asking Clint to cut her hair, and allowing only him to do this - because it's all about trust, and her hair is her personal history and only Clint gets to touch it.

Clint being the only guy who's allowed to undress Nat. Because she strongly prefers to do it herself when missions require her to, because it's somehow a small bit of control in situations where she has to use her body to reach a goal. And with Clint she doesn't need this kind of control. :)
