Fanon Cliche Day!
Welcome to another edition of "ZOMG We Made it to the End of Another Week Hallelujah Amen We Should Really Do Something to Celebrate whether in Squee, Rec or Meta Form" Friday. (Admittedly, we're still working out the title issues-- a poll might need to be involved.)

Last week, we did UST recs and comment fics. This week we are talking fanon cliches (ie, Natasha + vodka, Clint + bourbon/whisky, Clint in the air ducts, Hawkeye + nest jokes, "I'm too old for you!", Natasha's love of tea, Natasha and books, sparring as substitute for making out, etc.) What are your favorites? Got any recs? Share them with the class! (And mucho thanks to [livejournal.com profile] _samalander for coming up with this excellent idea!)

Oh-- also? **puts on mod hat for a sec**

A word to the wise: We love cliches around here. Nothing but love. So no bashing, m'kay? Everything (and everyone) should have a sense of humor, and this post is to celebrate those things we see in fic and fanwork that we love and enjoy, that make us giggle or grin, that have worked their way into the fanon consciousness at large. There's always room for discussion and debate and glorious thinky thoughts, but keep it positive and affirming, in the spirit of polite anarchy that reigns over this bar.

**takes off hat**

All right then. Go forth and play. And a very happy Friday, y'all. :)

I completely agree. Plus Tony tends to hide that secretly kind and well meaning heart of his behind sarcasm and deflection, which I think Clint gets. And Clint's no stranger to insults as compliments because feelings are scary, which is Tony's MO. I really don't get why more people don't write these two as friends.

ALSO! Think of all the amazing witty dialogue!

Yes! Yes yes yes to all of this! I think they're two different men, but they use similar strategies. Tony is flashy, he's about show and glitter and he likes attention (yet he has self worth issues, I think), while Clint is a background player. (In Harry Potter terms, Clint is a poster Hufflepuff. You don't know he's there, but he's insanely efficient and you do notice his work. Tony? Totally a Slytherin. And it is a combo that can work pretty well, in different type of relationships.) I agree, they'd understand each other's MO.

Speaking of witty dialogue I wrote that once, entire team was discussing Star Trek VS Star Wars and Tony was sort of letting them win the argument. But it's Clint who delivers final blows to Tony's case and they're both enjoying the banter.
