On the one hand, excited to see her. On the other hand, if this means she'll be in a relationship with someone besides Clint in the movies, I will not be happy.

Yeah, Bee and I have already started worrying about a triangle ourselves. Oy. But Natasha playing a role was pretty inevitable given that the movie is focused on Winter Soldier and they do have so much history in the comics, so I'm not too worried yet; after all, Nat also had a thing with Tony Stark in the comments and that seems very unlikely to ever happen in MCU.

For some reason, I'd prefer her with Tony to Bucky. Clint is best of course. But for some reason I really don't like the idea of her and Bucky together in the movies. It works fine in the comics, I guess, but I just don't want it in the movies.

Oh, believe me, I don't want her with anyone else either. I am firmly a Clint/Natasha girl.

I don't know how they could do it in the movies without giving a really rushed explanation of Natasha's backstory, and I don't want her backstory to be given in someone else's movie. You can tell the Winter Soldier arc just fine without the Bucky/Nat element, especially since it was retconned in later anyway.

See I really do think that the MCU is being treated as a seperate beast that just takes certain cues from the Comic!Verse.
Case in point: Pepper isn't Tony's main love interest in the comics but if they're not OTP in the MCU then the world makes no sense.

I have a feeling they might toy with a Nat/Bucky thing, maybe even dable in a triagle *rolls eyes* but I do believe the MCU route will be Clint/Natasha.
They have an established fanbase, and they played with the idea in the movie, even if it was subtle.

I'm somehow not worried.... if anything I think bringing in the Bucky/Natasha story might be a good foundation for a Black Widow origins movie.

At this stage I'm treating everything as a rumour until Marvel Studios officially confirms it. Mainly because I don't want my ship to be sunk. :P

I'd much rather have her in her own movie than as a supporting player in someone else's, but if this is the only way we can see Nat (and Clint, PLEASE) before Avengers 2 then yay for this!

Fair enough! Yeah, Marvel does need to confirm it. They're usually the last to do so, though, so it could still be a while. But Variety and Deadline tend to be pretty solid sources, so I'm feeling good about it.

Agreed, wish we could get that Black Widow or SHIELD movie, but Hulk has been pushed back 'til after Avengers 2 too, so not sure when that could happen. Boo.

For now I'm just going to practise optimism and go with being happy that we're likely getting more Natasha :) And that it looks like there's three more female roles in this film, yay for more ladies!

I am TORN between being SUPEREXCITED and FREAKING OUT. Because no Nat/Bucky, please. Just no. Like some people have already wisely said, I don't want her backstory to be explained in a rush, besides Clint/Natasha is already established in some way.

See I don't think about it like that. I think touching on the Bucky/Nat history in this movie, might actually be a good foundation and opening for a Black Widow Origins movie. And until proven otherwise I will hold on to that belief.

I assume you have better knowledge of comics than I do (honestly, it's superficial), so you probably see more possibilities than me. I'm definitely excited to see more of Scarlett as Natasha, but I can't shake the fear that they've teased us with Clint/Nat and then changed their minds... IDK. I wouldn't like that. A storyline that opens possibilities for her origin movie? Sure. I would like that as well. It's just - when it comes to shipping (and when I ship two people really hard) I get all these anxious feelings. I can live with Bucky/Nat as something that happened in the past, and it's part of who she is, I'd prefer to have Clint in her present.

My knowledge is quite superficial too, but it's not a matter of knowing the comicbook storyline. It's a matter of storytelling in general.

From what I know about the Comic!Verse and in combination with how they've handled the MCU narrative until now I can't say I'm too worried.

Could your fears come true? Sure! But it's not the only way to go. And it's because Marvel so far has been pretty good with how they've dealt with issues like these, I'm cautiously optimistic.

I've had really bad experiences when it comes to PTBs and shipping and how character storylines are handled, which is why I have this irrational voice in my head. I tend to be distrustful, but I see your point. I agree with things you've pointed out - I'm just more skeptical, IDK. Pessimistic at times? Probably.

I hope MCU continues to do a good work like they've been so far.

I understand where you're coming from, because, really, who hasn't had bad experiences? ;)
And, in all honesty, I generally am of the mindset "hope for the best but expect the worst". It's always on the back of my mind hovering. However I need a reason to be actively put into that line of thinking and get all worried before I have to.

In Phase 1, Marvel has established certain things and laid other foundations for relationships and dynamics. And so far, they have followed through with pretty much everything. So they haven't given me that reason to have that attitude. I don't live in a bubble! I know what people do for the sake of "DRAMA!!!" I'm aware of it and I won't be shocked if it happens.
But judging by the studio's history I feel I can approach this in good faith.

Not sure what I feel about it. Since Clint/Natasha is only teased in the Avengers, and they can always say that their relationship is only platonic and they are only partners if they want to pursue the Bucky/Nat route. And it seems like the director likes the Bucky/Nat romance from the comics so I am sure if I am excited for it or not. Does the director/someone who is in charge have twitter or anything? We need to tell them we've got a big fanbase and would love to see Clint/Natasha happening in the movie :P

Crossing my fingers for Renner to be in it though, since he is not in the cat on a hot tin roof play with Scarlett lol

Panorama Media has sold the film internationally, which includes a multi territorial deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. Production will begin mid-February on the East Coast.
