ATTF: friending time.
Greetings, best bar on earth!!  Man I have missed this place. This time of year is always so crazy-busy, and there's always so much to get done that it seems to fly by in a kind of haze (I know I've pretty much been doing my own zombie walk just trying to make it through, and a huge shoutout to Bob for some much needed fic therapy; it's totally keeping my ass sane right now.)

But how goes it, y'all? [livejournal.com profile] shenshen77and I were talking the other day and she had mentioned that we hadn't had a good old-fashioned friending meme in a while, and I thought that sounded like a dandy idea. I also think we need a good impromptu dance party and a chance to chat and hang out with old friends and make new ones and just be our awesome selves.

So please come by and introduce yourself. Say a few words about how you found this place or this ship and what your interests are. Check out other people's comments. Feel free to stalk them (in a non-creepy and completely respectful way) and comment crash-- hell, this place was built on comment-crashing (you think I'm kidding but I'm not.) There is no form to fill out becuase I'm allergic to forms. Free jazz all the way, bb. ;)

ETA on the introductions: no need to go into detail on the personal stuff. share as much as you feel comfortable with. i always like being a little cautious on that front, this being the internets and all. <3

Pics, gifs, randomness, chitchat, melarkly, and general bedlam are always encouraged. I've missed you guys. <3

ALSO-- I'm posting a sign-up sheet in the comments for future ATTF posts. We have had some amazing guest hosts and I thank each and every one of you. Y'all are constantly raising the level of discourse (and squee) around here and it's awesome. So for anyone thinking about signing up-- don't be a stranger, m'kay?

Tamora Pierce is what got me into fantasy in the first place! Well, that's not completely true. I read the Harry Potter books and wanted more so did the wise thing and went to the librarian and asked her what books were like Harry Potter and she pointed out the Lioness series. I'd read it and bought it for myself all in one weekend!

But those are two different kinds of fantasy books, I'd say. And I love them both, but I love Robin Hobb more :D Did the same with her as you did with Tamora Pierce: Found Book 1 in the library, read it in a weekend and was on amazon the next day ordering everything she'd written in that series!

Completely different! I was a thirty-something rooting around in the kids section at the library so I wasn't going to argue with her so I just took it and left.

I need to read Robin Hobb. Which series do you like the most?

*lol* That could have been me :D

She has a couple of Trilogies, that are all interlaced with each other. First is the Farseer Trilogy, wich I absolutely adore! FITZ!!! *sobs at main character's lot in life* Next would be the Liveship Traders, also good, but totally different characters, yet it is the one following immediately after the Farseer trilogy. And lastly, the Golden Fooll trilogy, seriously, by book three of that one I was an emotional wreck and I sobbed for about 200 pages worth of book. And I'm talking snot and all ;) Yet it was awesome and I was really sad when I turned the last page.

So, in short: I loved every single book in every one of these trilogies :D

Have you read The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams yet? That is also an awesome series of books!

I have some of books from his Otherworld series but haven't started reading them. I've had trouble getting into any epic fantasy lately. I'm much more into the smaller paranormal fantasy books that don't require so much time and effort. Horrible, I know. I'm not reading like I used to but I'm buying books at the same rate!

Otherworld was friggin weird, I started reading book 1 and couldn't really get into it at all. Then they made it into this epic longest audiobook or rather play here in Germany, I listened to that... it turned out alright, but it was just too many layers for me to enjoy :)

Tell me about it, I buy books that I end up not reading because I'd rather read fanfic ;D But the books keep finding their way to me anyway :D

But you like the Dragonbone Chair? They read his newest book at Sword and Laser last month and the discussion got me interested. I may pick that one up. There's also a cat book of his that they were talking about? Veronica Belmont liked it which means it's my new favorite book. *grins* And then she replied back to a message that I left and I've been all squee-y for a week now! Ah, the Geek and Sundry women tie me up in such knots!
