Title: I'm alive and I'm free (who wouldn't want to be me?)
Genre: Character study
Rating: General (light PG for kissing)
Characters/Pairings: Clint-centric, Natasha, Clint's team (same as from my other fics), Phil Coulson, the other Avengers. Mostly gen, but Clint/Natasha in some scenes.
Word Count: ~2500
Summary: Basically, this is a reverse-chronological character study about Clint Barton the ex-budgie and his feelings about food & community. (It's... not actually crack!) Written for the kinkmeme.
Warnings: No warnings, but there is human-minded person, who used to be a budgie, currently in a romantic relationship with a human with on-screen kissing, if that hits too close to bestiality for you.

I’ve been on both sides of the writer-beta relationship and both come with lots of questions. I thought maybe we could have some discussion :)

> Finding a beta: always awkward. Do you leave a message on your own journal or on a community and hope that someone’s interested? Is it too cheeky to send someone a private message asking them? Is there beta etiquette?

(I noticed that a fair amount of people said on the Secret Santa post that they would be happy to beta. If there are people on the comm who beta, what would you think about maybe setting up a kind of beta directory for writers looking for betas?)

> Being a beta: has it’s own worries. How harsh do writers want you to be? How thorough? What kind of help are they looking for? What kind of help do betas offer?

> Keeping a beta: is there an etiquette on how many times you can ask someone to look over the same fic? Is there etiquette for how long a beta can take to look it over? Can you have more than one beta at a time? If one beta says one thing and the other something different what do you do? Do you introduce them to each other? If you need a beta again in the future do you have to start all over again or can you email the same beta and ask, ‘um, remember me?’

I’m guessing a lot of this is personal and that there are a lot of different views, and that I’ve missed a lot of questions, so bring on the discussion! And if you’re looking for a beta this could be a good place to start :)

So I teach English to a group of 17-18 year old girls and we're having a lesson on movies and cinema, and one of them said The Avengers is her favorite film because there are many sexy men in it.  Since getting these girls to talk is usually like pulling teeth and they seemed keen on this topic, I let it go on and there ensued a debate about which man is sexiest, and I said if they were very good and all did their homework, then tomorrow I would make my case for Jeremy Renner being dead sexy.  I could spend the evening combing google images, but I thought perhaps this comm might have what I needed right at your fingertips.  So, I need the most brain-meltingly sexy photos you have....bring 'em on.

... my first time to try post a story to this site.  I have no idea what I'm doing posting to LiveJournal, so bear with me.  It's a dry run for the little offering I plan to stick under the tree for the Santa Exchange (having joined a day too late to actually participate in the exchange, assuming I could have figured out how).

Anyway, here's my story -- I have a feeling that there's a Holy Trinity of Clint/Natasha fic writing:  How They Met, Budapest and After New York.  Well, I started with the latter (surprised there isn't a tag for that!  :-) ).  I'm big on post-canon stuff in my other fandom (plus I have a feeling we may yet get a movie that will deal with the first two, and I SO hate to go A/U, even retroactively ....)

The thing is called "Going to Ground".  Actually some of you folks have read it already -- I recognize a lot of names!  If you haven't -- hope you enjoy.  ConCrit always welcome.
