ALL THINGS FRIDAY: Presents! (Assassins & spies are so difficult to shop for!)
*koff*   *koff*

Um, is this thing on? *taps mike on the kareoke stage*

*SQUEAL!*   Ooops, sorry! Guess it is!

Hello, everybody! Welcome to the first All Things Friday hosted by Me - Vanessa, AKA TaleWeaver. I hope the time zone thing hasn't confused everyone? It's Friday evening down here in Australia, anyway. Is everyone feeling the love in this bar tonight?

*roar rattles the windows*

Wow, we've got a ton of great people around here! But then, we all know this is the very best bar!

Anyway, tonight's topic... well, it's pretty obviously inspired by the awesome Secret Santa that's been running around here. (hey, I think Koren M's still got a few presents left to hand out, even!) And it is still technically the twelve days of Christmas, so today's topic is....
GIFTS THAT NATASHA AND CLINT HAVE GIVEN EACH OTHER
(or joined forces to give to someone else)

What kind of things do they give each other?
Ranging from the practical, to the sentimental (for them), to the stuff that makes Coulson facepalm once he’s out of sight behind a closed door.

What occasions are gifts given for?
Do they get hustled into the Helicarrier Secret Santa (where everyone dreads getting Nick Fury, because they always wind up getting him something black)? Do they get each other birthday presents, or to celebrate the anniversary of the day they met / their first mission together / first kissed / XXX / 50th time one of them saved the other's life / admitted in public they were married? Or is their gift giving of the sporadic but constant 'I was hiding out from a hit squad in Paris, found this in a little shop on the Left Bank, thought you'd like it' variety?

Have they ever done the 'couple' thing and joined forces to give a present to someone else?
Maybe Coulson found a wheelchair with 'Agent on Board' on the back and holsters for guns, coffee and paperwork along the sides waiting for him once he was out of MedBay for that nasty stab wound? Has Colonel Fury found an anonymous package on his desk, and opened it to find a collection of eyepatches decorated according to holiday themes? (ie a heart for Valentine's Day, a four-leaf clover for St Patrick's Day, a skull and crossbones for International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and so on). Did Tony get a box of pamphlets for erectile dysfunction aides the first April Fool's Day after Natalie Rushman started working for him? Or did a former head of the KGB get a rocket-launched grenade down his chimney on the anniversary of the day Nat escaped the Red Room?

Heck, you could even write / rec something about how difficult they are to shop for!

Shen, are you trying to GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!

On a sliiightly more serious note, he was a tiny thing when he was younger. I like how his age shows (it seems he looks more powerful). One of the things I hate the most are people who are trying to hide they're aging. It's a normal process, take it gracefully.

OT sorry! (I really have a thing about Nat and Clint age difference, but in terms of him knowing he's ten-ish years older, feeling like used goods when compared to her. But then, even though she's physically younger sometimes she feels a hundred years old, and being with him, doing things with him helps her remember it's not like that. They kind of even each other out, because they're both used goods. So fitting for one another).

Why yes, that was my intention ;) NOOOOOO, just here to provide viewing pleasure :D

But again, I totally agree! So cute and small when he was younger! But I much prefer the Renner from Hurt Locker onward, I especially liked his physique in The Unusuals. He had just a hint of a belly, with all those muscles clearly showing too... soooooo sexy :D (We call it a Waschbärbauch instead of a Waschbrettbauch here in Germany ;))

So here, have some Walsh:

Regarding OT: Again, I am totally with you! Both got a lot of baggage, but then he acts like a 5 year old a lot of the time, whereas Natasha exudes old soul. So I guess they do meet in the middle, at least in my headcanon :)

WAAAAALSH. (Do you know he was written with hawkeye from M*A*S*H in mind? Esentially, every character in Unusuals should "be" someone from M*A*S*H.) Renner got to be Hawkeye before Hawkeye. LOL.

Waschbärbauch, I think I know the word. And it's lovely. Both the word and what it implies.

Man you just gave me "he helps her feel young again" feels. I need to use that angle in Red Thread, in one of following chapters.

Oh, I did not know that, but it absolutely fits! I love MASH!!! And man, that just is so weird and good and just ridiculous :D Especially since I was talking to a friend about Hawkeye and she immediately thought of MASH :D

I love that word to and the implication as well. It's just this tiny hint of belly fat, that men naturally aquire around the age of 35-40 and that just makes them cuddly and... *sigh*

Woohoo for giving you feels! And yes, I totally see her as regaining some levity through being around him. And I'm really looking forward to reading that soon :D

This is too funny. I just explained to a coworker what the Unusuals was (I'm watching it now on DVD -- yay!!!) and summed it up as "M.A.S.H. meets NYPD Blue. Man, we are in synch. No wonder this bar rocks!!!

Yes, we really all are braintwins ;) Or podpeople, who knows ;) Totally fitting description! I need to get those DVDs!
