Okay, so the Infinity War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinity_War) was a HUGE freaking part of my childhood - the arc that got me into comics and made me care about heroes.

Couple that with Thanos and this shot of the gauntlet in Odin's treasure room (http://mimg.ugo.com/201202/7/7/6/218677/cuts/thor-paramount-home-ent_480_poster.png), a blillion doppelgangers, a scene where Thor flies a neutron bomb into space to protect everyone, and whatever this is:

and I don't see how it could possibly be a bad idea.

Plus, this of all the awesome that could happen if Clint or Natasha got doppeled, and the other had to kill them? GAH I WANT IT.

So are the doppels like skrulls? (sp?)

I remember hearing something about the stuff in Odin's treasure room being important later so I've wondered if that might factor into a later story. Do we have any hints from Thor2?

So if you get doppeled is the original person immobilized? Or do you just have soap-opera evil twin person running around effing shit up?

Kinda not really? They're like evil versions of people, and their main goal is to kill and replace the person they look like.

I'm staying away from spoilers, but I did read this article (http://maskofreason.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/very-good-writing-why-loki-won-in-the-avengers/) which makes a good point on how things could go.

Most soap-opera, but they also want to replace you, so murderous soap opera.

MURDEROUS SOAP OPERAS ARE THE BEST KIND OF SOAP OPERAS.

(a close second is demon posessesion, but that's a whole other discussion.)

...and now my murderous soap opera dramarama shippy brain kind of wants a scenario where we have UST/buddycop C/N to begin with (complete with ALL THE REPRESSED "OMG WE ARE SO IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER BUT WE JUST CAN'T ADMIT IT TO OURSELVES OR ANYONE ELSE" FEELS) and evil Clint or Nat doppel kisses the other (still good) person and zomg they've never kissed before and FEELINGS! But omg they're eeeeevil and did it really mean anything, zomg! CUE ANGST! CUE CONFLICTED EMOTIONS! CUE AWESOME!

(Bonus points if the good original Clint or Nat is helpless to do anything but watch while evil twin totally tries to steal their true love.)

Depends on your definition of "good", I guess. There'll be some fun times around moral ambiguity, Tony Stark making inappropriate remarks about PMS, and then the reveal when she attacks Clint (after making out with him), if only so we can have a sequel to that enormously ... emmm ... stimulating fight scene on the helicarrier.

Maybe! (But it's not like X-Files was the first to do it either--mistaken identity is the best!) I could not for the life of me remember the episode, but it just came to me: "Small Potatoes." Love that episode.
