ATTF: Hi, my name is ... Joss?
For today's Friday, you have just landed a new job. And not just any job. You've be hired to write the Avengers 2 script.

What storylines do you what to see? What villains? What drama?

...and most importantly (for the residents of this bar), what should happen with Clint and Natasha? Is their long-term existing relationship revealed? (secret marriages anyone?) Do they finally overcome all that buddycop UST and get together? Do we learn more about their past? Is there dramarama?

Tell me!!!  (someone please put me out of my misery and bring that Loki gif to the comments)

And go forth and have fun. <3

Adminny-min stuff to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

So. I don't know about infinity gauntlets or wars (I'm a comic illiterate) but here's roughly what I see based on the final (non-shawarma) scene:

The movie will need to factor in what happened in Captain America 2, which will have been released by then, and I assume that during that Clint and Natasha will have finally resolved their UST issues after a brief jealousy interlude with the Winter Soldier. So now they're celebrating someplace nice (I envision Long Island, but that's just me; that boat from the Bourne Legacy would be nice, too); Tony and Bruce are playing in the lab; Steve is driving his bike around the country trying to learn how it works now, and is quietly appalled.

Bruce notices a spike in the space-time continuum roughly around the same time as Fury finds he's been replaced as Director by Maria Hill, because the WSC is pissed off abut that whole nuke thing, and afraid he might rat them out to the media.

The spike, turns out, is Thanos and his gang attacking Asgard -- (a) to take a spot of revenge on Loki and (b) because they decided Earth was too much trouble and after Loki's defeat, maybe Asgard would be an easier hit. But that infinity glove thing would work, too ... Anyway, Asgard is in trouble and Thor calls for help.

Mayhem ensues, with the WSC refusing to allow SHIELD resources to be used, making the split between the Avengers and SHIELD permanent.

Clint has a major WTF? meltdown when he is asked to go to Asgard with the gang (me? help Loki???) but Natasha brings him 'round and everybody goes to Asgard and helps out, via a new bridge built by Jane Foster and Erik Selvig.

More mayhem, including some lovely visuals of the art deco world of Agard going to pot and things falling out of the bottom (since it's not really a planet but a disc). Ironman makes a lot of Flat Earth jokes but ends up holding the place up and patching the holes. Great confrontation between Clint and Loki, during which Clint has to decide whether to let him live or die, and comes down on the side of the former. Natasha and Sif do some badass girl bonding.

But at the end of the movie Loki does a runner to Jotunheim, because gratitude really isn't his thing, and Tom Hiddleston has a contract for more movies.

dude, a clint revenge/catharsis arc could be really interesting. and i love the idea of keeping asgard in play through all of it, whether it's the infinity gauntelet or seomthine else). i wonder since it doesn't looke like hawketye is going to be cap2 if they will have a chance to resolve the c/n stuff before avengers2, but it could happen. (i just really really don't want it to happen offscreen b/c ... sadness.)

Agree that I don't want anything to happen off screen. Boy do I agree. But maybe Renner will do another uncredited cameo at the end of Cap2, leading Natasha off into the sunset (after she's been dropping hints to Bucky that "there's somebody else ....)

LOL-- awesome.

Best uncredited cameo ever. \o/

It's killing me that Renner hasn't been added to the cast for Cap2. Boo. I'm hoping for a cameo myself; your idea would be amaaaaaaazing.

You always have the best ideas, my friend :D That would indeed be the best cameo of all times! *sigh*

Ooo, yes, give us 3 seconds of Clint at the end, just anything like that little whisper-smile moment at the end of Avengers :D

I'm personally hoping for some decent screentime during CA2 with Natasha, because the whole reason the Winter Soldier shows up is to kill her or to kidnap Steve. Steve brings Bucky back to his senses, and as an apology for the whole trying-to-kill-you thing, Bucky tells Natasha the reason he was sent out after her: after some years to recover from the USSR breaking up, they're starting up the Red Room again.

So then we've got the after-credit scene: Natasha heads to her quarters and starts packing, then whirls as she senses someone enter. She smiles as a matching black bag plops onto her bed, and the camera pulls back to show Hawkeye, in non-battle on-duty gear (think what he was wearing at the New mexico base).
"You don't have to do this," Natasha offers. "I do, but you don't."
"Yeah, I do," he smirks back. "You need to do this, and I need to watch your back doing it."
Natasha just smiles back at him, then the screen turns black to say: Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton will return in "Black Widow: Dead on Target."
Said movie will be released between CA2 and Av2, during which all that lovely UST will be R'd. So Av2 opens with their first scene of the two of them being lovely and domestic - like Hawkeye making breakfast while Natasha packs away the guns off the kitchen table. While they're both in their pj's. (or just boxers for Jeremy, because - oh, c'mon, it's not like I have to explain around here...)

We should definitely do a reprise of this topic after Iron Man 3, Cap 2 and Thor 2, 'cause they'll hold plenty of hints.

I know that there will a cosmic threat in Avengers 2, but I'm kind of hoping there will be some utterly human villains in Phase 2 and 3, just because humans without supernatural or extraterrestrial aid can be super scary and compelling.

But at the end of the movie Loki does a runner to Jotunheim, because gratitude really isn't his thing, and Tom Hiddleston has a contract for more movies.

Bwhahahahaha! Yes, but now he owes the Avengers - specifically Clint - a debt...
[identity profile] alphaflyer.livejournal.com on January 25th, 2013 11:35 pm (UTC)
not sure Loki will understand the concept of "debt..." But YES on the revisiting suggestion. (As thousands of fanfictions burn ...)

I think Loki understands debt, but whether he chooses to acknowledge it or not...
