Golden Globes - where are they?
OK, so I'm posting this here because this is the only place that I can think of that might understand my distress that BOTH Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson were MIA at last night's Golden Globes, despite the fact that both of them starred in nominated movies (American Hustle and Her).

*sad panda*

Hopefully we'll see them at the SAG awards and/or the Oscars.

I'm sorry you're distressed. On the plus side, the opening monologue was great and everyone looked fabulous. So much gorgeous clothing! (I don't understand why people have to hate on some of the clothes and actresses. STFU, they're gorgeous.)

I can't decide whether Natasha would delight in the silliness and pomp of the Awards season and make a drinking game for every event, or think it a complete waste of money or time. Thoughts?

I just missed seeing my favorite two on the red carpet.

And I think that Natasha would be evaluating the various gowns for their ability to hide weapons on her person. For example, that huge flowery thing that Paula Patton (http://cdn01.cdn.justjared.com/wp-content/uploads/headlines/2014/01/paula-patton-golden-globes-2014-red-carpet.jpg) was wearing? Imagine what Nat could hide inside or under that thing!

I'm pretty sure she could hide all her weapons and Clint's bow as well :P

I think Patton's dress is one that works in a photoshoot/ from one very specific angle, but not so much as a three dimensional dress.

Oh, good heavens, yes. To all of that. LOL
[identity profile] hufflepuffsneak.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2014 05:09 am (UTC)
But, obviously, she is still very beautiful and was a BAMF in Mission Impossible whateverthehell number we're up to, so I hope she gets many more red carpets to walk up in better dresses.

I joined late because I'm not used to awards shows starting so early (I just moved from the East coast), so I spent a full freakin' two hours looking for Jeremy Renner at the American Hustle table. I knew there was no way Scarlett Johansson wouldn't be in every shot of Joaquin Phoenix if she was there. I kept hoping for Renner.

*was sad*

I missed the red carpet pre-show and spent the whole show looking for them in the crowd too!

Clint, Tony, Thor if he was around, and possibly Steve would *totally* have a drinking game. Maybe they could get Natasha to take one drink (if not a shot) per the number of weapons she could hide under any given gown. Of course, she wouldn't make it past the first hour that way, so maybe they'd get her another way. (Oh, sweet merciful heavens, it's practically writing itself. *facepalm* Someone do it!!!) :D

I know! Maybe a sip for every weapon, and a shot for every time you laugh out loud (only for the Golden Globes though, 'cause Fey and Poehler are the only hosts in recent memory that have been truly funny).

They must be busy doing Captain America 2 re-shoots.

You know, the secret scene/cameo/post-credit clip where Nat comes home after her little adventure with Cap and the Winter Soldier, and an arrow zings into the door frame beside her face and she turns without a flinch and smiles, "Oh, you're back?" and a figure detaches himself from the shadows and that gravelly voice says, "Yup. Nice necklace. You miss me?" but she doesn't bother responding verbally, she just grabs the scruff of Clint's neck and devours his mouth with a very, very unchaste kiss.

That, plus Jeremy Renner is currently sporting what looks distinctly like a Hawkeye hair cut and Thor 1-cameo facial hair.

There it is. PROOF! (Well, it would be if this was Tumblr...)

I am sure they were spending time with their family. For me to watch the SAG/Oscars there has to be actors or actress that I care about watch to be there for me to even think about going to watch them.

I love the big three awards shows (Golden Globes, SAG awards, and the Oscars). There's something just really endearing about watching someone who truly didn't expect to win stammer up at the microphone, overcome with shock and emotion. I think it's just the chance to watch actors be actual real people, unscripted and with their defenses down, that I find really appealing. There may only be one or two actual honest speeches in a show, but that's what I tune in for.

That and the clothes.

Just watched American Hustle last night, and really, really enjoyed it :D And psst I also just found out that it's nominated for a bunch of Oscars.

One of my girlfriends who is also a fan of Mr. Renner and I went to see it a couple of weeks ago. Being of an age where I actually lived through that decade, I was in hysterics over all the little 1970s details that they put in the movie. Everything from the phones to the wallpaper!

I am very much hoping one of the other of our favorite assassins makes an appearance at the Oscars. And if they're both there that we might get another scene like this one (http://media3.onsugar.com/files/2013/11/22/510/n/1922398/47990e1ba05b0a70_63754695rWPyKO.xxxlarge_2x/i/Scarlett-Johansson-posed-red-carpet-2011-Oscars-while-dazed-Jeremy-Renner-looked.jpg).

I saw it and loved it. An intelligent movie for adults. That said, Jeremy Renner was robbed -- his role is unflashy, but the heart of the movie and he creates a living, breathing, flawed mensch. The look on his face as they cuff him in front of his children is worth the price of admission.
