Smutty headcanons... Hm.

I do headcanon that there was no sex when Clint brought Natasha in, though I like stories about it that way. (and now want to write a fic for it that works around my reasoning :shakes head at self) I headcanon that they're both pretty quiet unless they're working/putting on a show, except Clint's louder without his hearing aids and doesn't realize it and Natasha secretly loves that (and would never admit it to anyone, not even the cat let alone a human being). I also, oddly enough, don't see toys or endearments like "baby" with them really.

Now that we've moved the "I don't think"s out of my sex-related headcanon, let's go for "I do think"s.

I do think they'd both be kinky when they felt like it. Yeah, sure, they can make sex happen when they're dirty, tired, and injured in the middle of a warzone (and really, they never ever get an extraction plan ever again unless they call in for it) with the barebone essentials—him, her, and a flat surface—but I can totally see them doing bondage, blindfolds, weapons play and a whole host of kinks I'm not even into and don't always want to see them do, but I can see them doing that. They don't strike me as the kind of people who would be very vanilla if you know what I mean, and she probably knows a ton of various kinks just for work.

Plus I maybe headcanon that she's not blind that one time she rescues a tied up naked Barton from his captors and seeing Renner clothed and tied to a chair was enough to get me very interested in how that works behind closed doors.

Okay. So maybe I also headcanon about this chair behind the door in Clint's room that is used solely for a very specific purpose with some ropes kept in a drawer by the bed. I admit.

I could find smutty recs galore, but I shall simply point anyone toward my public bookmarks on AO3, where you can filter by M or E rated as you please.

I also headcanon that they didn't have sex when he brought her in, although I, like you, also enjoy those stores ;). I think she was young, super messed up, and as messed up as he was, wasn't messed up to do that with her until she got her bearings somewhat.

So much this. Clint's observant, perceptive, and a decent human being, even when he's being a jerk. So yeah.

This is my headcanon too. I can enjoy it in other people's fics depending on how it's done, but for me, Natasha wasn't in a stable enough place mentally and Clint knew that. I think Clint would also have been extra sensitive to the fact that she feels indebted to him and he wouldn't want her to feel as though she 'owes' him anything, least of all sex.

(and really, they never ever get an extraction plan ever again unless they call in for it) -- Imaging why, possibly, that might've become a rule, in that context, gives me SO MUCH JOY.

Yep. Petty much this... My head canon has it that Maria put an end to the extraction plans, after a particularly egregious episode, when their post-adrenaline high-jinks threatened to become SHIELD lore...

The stakes in the pool are at an all-time high after Budapest. Rumour is, when Coulson had come for Delta Team, their … position … was sufficiently obvious to settle the issue, once and for all.

Problem is, Coulson isn’t talking.

Maria silences the chattering lunchroom with an icy glare. Some situations, you need to tackle head on.

“Now hear this. Barton was injured. Romanoff stitched him up. He took his shirt off for that. That is all.”

Maria takes her sandwich and stalks out, heading straight for Victoria Hand’s office.

“Barton and Romanoff no longer get an extraction plan.”

Ok, I go back and forth on headcanons: Actually, back up. Canon. I'm still trying to discern where the "Natasha has sex with marks and then kills them" comes from. I know that's her codename, but that is the codename for all the little girls in the Red Room program...like was it literally designed for them to have sex and then kill their mates? My guess its more because they are small yet deadly (at least they start out small...some like Dottie get tall, and some like Natasha remain sorta small). At the very least, I can't see SHIELD requiring that of her, although a lot of fic seems to be written that way.

Ok, headcanon. I think they like the kink sometimes. I think it stems from that fight in the first movie. The hairpulling and arm-biting...my headcanon is that wasn't the first time that happened ;) I also think they like it soft and slow and romantic sometimes. And since I like my Clint to be deaf, I think when he isn't wearing his hearing aids that adds another heightened element that makes things very intense indeed. ;)

Oh! Can I talk about their bedroom voices? For goodness sakes, their talk in Avengers 1: This Movie Was All about Black Widow and Hawkeye and Anybody Who Says Otherwise is a Liar* should have earned that movie an R. Those two soft yet rough voices. And yes, sometimes they have to have phone sex.

Gah. The bedroom voices. I want more phone sex fic. There isn't much of them, no third, and talk I find believable.

I think it's more from Dottie's sleeping with Stark and historical espionage done with sex that creates the cliche. I think it's a tool in her arsenal but deployed like any other, as needed and at HER discretion.

I want more phone sex fic too! I know there is some, and some Skype sex too, but I need more. Those alone missions can be very long and lonely.

I agree about the cliché. I wonder if they will address it the next movie at all. I just want to know every single thing about her in canon. And then I can rewrite what I want in my head anyway ;)

On a serious note, I think a lot of the "Natasha has sex with her marks" comes down to the sexy lady spy trope we see in so many spy/action films, particularly James Bond. I notice it's especially common when the female spy is Russian or Eastern European, which is an interesting commentary on how American and Western European pop culture fetishises Eastern European women, but that's going off topic.

On topic, I think Clint and Natasha definitely enjoy being kinky and rough sometimes, but they can also be soft and romantic, depending on the mood.

They're infinitely flexible.

Yes, I completely agree with the trope. That's why I am always questioning it, because I don't see the evidence for it in the movies (yet) and always wonder where it is in the comics. I'm sure its happened somewhere in the comics at some point (Ultimates maybe?) but am really curious if it happened more than that or if its just this thing that is out there and not really based on much. I can see her being forced to do it for the Red Room, but this "ho-hum, this is just her thang"...well, like I said. Very curious to learn more about her in the next movie.

OH HELLO MY FAVORITE TOPIC. No smutty headcanons from this end, seeing how I'm lately busy ~writing some of them, lol. But, spoiler alert: kink abounds when I put these two together in my head. Not always, but often. Since that's not for everyone, I will stop there, but, I just, whether or not actual kink is your speed, I do think they'd... probably not be too gentle with each other? At least on occasion? It might get rough? Heh. Might be my bias speaking though. XD

And yes, I would absolutely want to see more of that in fic -- both straight-up smut and actual kink. Because I come from a fandom that was really really smutty and kinky and I still have needs, goddammit, lol.

I don't really have a lot of headcanons in general. I'm pretty flexible on how I see characters and their background/history. And as far as fic goes, I'm prepared to believe the author's ideas as long as they're well written.

That said, one of the ideas with Clint and Natasha that I find I really like is that he's the first man she's made magic with of her own choosing. He knows this and understands what that means to her.
