January Friending Meme
Hi All, Happy New Year 2016! We've already got some fun things planned for this year and we thought we'd kick things off with a getting-to-know-you, getting-back-in-touch, friending type thing. It was lovely to see newer faces joining in with things like Secret Santa, and the older faces popping in that we haven't seen for a while, and, well, we do love a good old friendly bar chat in these parts. So grab yourselves a drink, copy and paste the box below into a comment to tell us a bit about yourselves, and chat away!

Other fun Friends style Avengers vids: one two three

Things to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

MCU, comics, or all the things?

MCU

Which upcoming Marvel films are you looking forward to and what are you hoping to see in them?

Definitely Civil War. What am I hoping to see? Action, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and lots n' lots of angst.

Tell us a thing we've done that really enjoy here (promptathon, secret santa, ATTF etc) and/or suggest something you'd like us to do:

I really enjoyed Secret Santa.

After Age of Ultron are you camping out at the farm, by that river in Egypt, in a world of AUs anyway, or another camp all together?

I'm almost entirely camping out in Egypt but I've recently expanded my tent to include a little Laura/Clint/and kids and even *gasp* a smidge of Brutasha

What things do you love to see in fics/creative works, what’re a few of your favourite things?

I love angst. I'm super addicted to tragedy and drama as long as it avoids being too sappy or crosses over the thin line into melodrama. I also love strong character building and complicated, realistic mission!fic

What's your favourite thing (or one of) that you wrote/created in 2015 (link please!) and why?

"Miracles" featuring the Avengers at the end of AoU. I loved the somber mood at the end of the film and wanted to try to capture that http://archiveofourown.org/works/4294494

Give us 3 sentences or a teaser of something creative, fic or otherwise, that you’re working on:

A bit of original fiction I've been working on which seems lately an incredibly rare event: "We were born from the walls. The walls tended us, fed us, and nursed us. The walls clothed us and gave us our names. The walls protected us and taught us. The walls sheltered us. The walls were our world, the beginning and end of our existence. The walls were our creator, provider, and healer. The walls were our Eden."

Rec us something (fic, vid, art, graphics, meta, anything):

"Pour Back The Ocean" by imperfectcircle
"After the events of Age of Ultron, Wanda has to find a new place in the world. Contains team training exercises, expected grief and unexpected kindness."

You're on the creative team for a new Marvel comic or film, featuring whoever you like and about whatever you like. What does the film poster or the comic cover look like?

Black Widow movie: Natasha standing with her back to the camera, arms at her sides holding guns/knives/or just her widow's bites with her figure partially shrouded in mist and snow powdering her red hair.

Any other fandoms you're currently into:

I'm very into the incredibly obscure fandom of The Sandbaggers, which was a British television show that ran from 1978-80 centering around the British Secret Intelligence Service. It focuses on the complex antihero Neil Burnside, who's the director of operations for SIS and the SIS special section called "the Sandbaggers". It's got some truly superb storytelling/dialog/characterizations and well worth a watch (only three seasons, twenty episodes in all). Here's a link to the Wikipedia article (which contains major spoilers so beware) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sandbaggers
And here's a link to their LJ page http://sandbaggers.livejournal.com/

The last book you read/film you watched/song you listened to:

Book: "The Little Drummer Girl" by John le Carre (I've been super obsessed with everything relating to British espionage lately and have been working my way through all of le Carre's novels). Film: Brooklyn (a really sweet romance that feels like it actually contains real people that have lived real lives and I definitely recommend it). Song: "Girl" by the Beatles

What should a new friend know about you/your LJ and/or what are you looking for in an LJ/online friend?< /br>
What a friend should know: I ramble a lot about things I love
What am I looking for: Someone who will put up with a lot of rambling and will ramble back at me, in turn

Anything extra to add?

Tom Hiddleston is gorgeous
