I'll probably see the press screening for it, but I can't wait! I've also booked tickets for the midnight showing on the night between the 24th and 25th of April here in Copenhagen for it. I'm counting on bringing one of my cosplays to the showing.
I hope that he'll have a big role in the movie and that they won't Ultimates! the wife and kids...

Hi - you got there first! (My theory about the family is below...) I wanted to do the night of April 24/25, but I have an Official Thing in Amsterdam that night and don't think I'll make it back to The Hague in time to change and head into town ... :P So we're going on the 25th, hubby, Kidlet - who'll be back from Canada by then - and me. Yay!

So Imma kick things off.

Clint has had enough of all the infighting. Cap, Tony and their bullshit that got him jailed... He's pissed and doesn't want to play anymore. "Shoulda stayed retired...

And so he makes an ungracious exit after the Raft escape (we got a bit of his mood in his scene with Tony), flipping everyone the bird and heading for Iowa. Where Laura has packed up and gone (possibly spooked by Ross sniffing around, plus he's disappointed the kids one time too many...) (Read a fantastic arc for Clint on that
here)

Left with nothing, he goes and does a version of Occupy Avengers - fixing problems for the Little People. Because he's totally had it with the Big Shots, the Avenger thing, SHIELD... Until Thanos arrives.

Of course, he has self-esteem issues about that one. As in, "Here's this Titan from outer space, with powers beyond belief. And I have a bow and arrows..." So, no interest in getting involved. Until ... it starts being a problem for the Little People.

Having nothing to lose, he gets involved. And because Thanos is only looking out for the Big Shots, totally ignoring the guy with the bow and arrows, Clint will be the one who brings him down. And gets killed in the process. (Except he doesn't, because comics, Kree, Ronin and all the rest.)

So there's my theory!

Aw, I kinda like that. It's a lot better than my glum prediction which is that Thanos will somehow wipe out the family, Laura will get a big death scene and Clint turns Ronin. It looks like Clint turns Ronin anyway from those set photos. I think you're right that we're not hearing much because of spoilers, which makes me worry he or Laura and the kids will die. (I was not crazy about Clint having a family, but I love Linda Cardinelli.)

Also Occupy was GREAT, I still miss it. The Fireheart cousins! Nightshade! Wheels! sigh.

Occupy was great, it's a shame it got caught up in all that Secret Empire bullshit. And then got cancelled. :/

OMFG SERIOUSLY. I loved it! I grew up in NM and the artist got the scenery exactly right, and the rez stuff was perfect too. I'm always a sucker for a superhero going 'incognito' and street level, and Occupy did it so well. And then fucking Secret Empire ruined it all, it was terrible. I have lost track of how many TPBs I have that started off great, then they have a couple of bad event issues, then they're over.

And they kindasorta brought back Red Wolf and Clint in the current Avengers No Ending thing but it just really, really wasn't the same.

He's hanging out with Valkyrie on the farm, since there's no sign of Valkyrie yet either. *sobs*

I too am not impressed by the lack of Valkyrie. She was on that ship! She and Heimdall should totally be involved.

Yeah, I'm not impressed with the lack of Heimdall either. *grumble* There are photos of Tessa in a newish costume, which indicates that she should be in at least one scene, but I'm still worried. ://

....see, if I ran the world Marvel I would make shitloads of money by having LOTS of Heimdall action scenes in a sleeveless outfit. I really, really hope Thanos doesn't kill him.

Nah I think they'll be fine. I'd just rather they were fine and in this film.

OMFG they wouldn't DARE. Especially since Tessa Thompson marched into whoever's office and said there should be more solo movies about WoC characters. If they damage one tiny speck of that paint on her face....

It would certainly be very poor form on their part, especially since Marvel is finally starting to fix their poor track record with WOC and Tessa Thompson's career seems to be really taking off, but they haven't earned my trust in that regard. :/

I've been thinking a bit about this, actually. When Natasha became a break out favourite after Avengers, Marvel seemed to be caught by surprise, and they didn't seem to know how to capitalise on it. She had much less merch, and she didn't even get a solo comic announced until months later. Marvel seems to have learned from that because they seem to have been better on capitalising on Valkyrie's popularity immediately after Ragnarok's release, but since Infinity War was filmed so close to Ragnarok, they may not have realised by then how popular she was going to be.

I'm really not sure what Clint could be up to here. Though I do like the idea of a Occupy style, helping the little guy plot line. Or it's just him, going around picking up stray superheroes because "well, we're gonna need all the help we can get." So he gets Scott to introduce him to Hope - "oh yeah, she's great", and they stumble across Sif somewhere random - "You know Thor? Great! Wanna fight bad guys?", and then, "does Pepper still have extremis?" "She has a company, Clint." "Oh yeah, probably not the best option. Thor's ex? Scientists are always useful. Worth a shot, right?", and then; "Maria! Maria will help. And Sharon." and then a while later, "who the hell are you?" "Valkyrie" "...okay cool. Do you also know Thor? You look like you'd know Thor. Wanna punch some bad guys?" and what happens is that in Infinity War 2 or whatever that film is called, Clint just rocks up with a bunch of badass ladies (and Scott) and like, saves the day. (One of those ladies should be Nakia, picked up from the STEM place in Oakland)

....that is fucking awesome. (Also grumble grumble I love how Clint picks up misfit teams and tries to keep them on the straight and narrow in the comics, I really wish we'd seen more of that in MCU -- not just him coaching Wanda....)

I can practically hear it! Ooh, also Melinda May and Skye/Daisy, from Agents of SHIELD. And Bobbi (man, I always wanted Clint to be in Hunter's place on AoS. Anyway). And Yo-Yo. Jemma and Jane could science together.

I thought about including AoS and Netflix peeps (Clint meeting Jessica would be awesome) but I figure that if my idea is far fetched, adding those guys is even more so.

Clint collecting misfit almost-but-not-quite-Avengers ... The sidekicks army that saves the day. I like. I like a LOT.

I'm with the Ronin scenario too. It would totally be like Marvel to try and kill a mosquito with a cannon, wiping off his family in some dumb tragic incident, have him save the day as Ronin and then kill him off in the second movie to boot. (I also have the horrific suspicion that Captain America won't survive the movies either...)

It premieres at the 26th in Athens too - can't wait!

The thing I'm sort of clinging onto is that Marvel has been kinda squeamish about killing major characters so far, other than villains I mean. And for one thing they want these movies to be very family-friendly, and I can't see parents taking their kids to a movie where a mother and children (including an infant) get wiped out. But who knows....

I was honestly thinking Steve might die in CW and be brought back for IW, or now die in IW and be brought back in the last Avengers movie, but that shot of him and Thanos with the gauntlet....that's RIGHT OUT of that death scene in the comics and I realized I am NOT ready for it.

I think they would be willing to do it, if anything because an epic, dramatic ending in phase two would be a nice prelude to phase three. And R.R. Martin kind of proved to the industry that killing off your nice characters actually makes people come back for more. :D

But you're absolutely right about the family-friendly aspect, so here's to hoping! I really hated that specific storyline of AoU, but I too wouldn't feel comfortable with the death of three children and their mother. If you want to get them out of the picture for some reason, whatever happened to good old fashioned divorces?

I think it's Tony who will die. Tony and Vision and Loki.

I think they're going to keep Tony alive to make the awful vision from AoU come true -- everyone dead and dying and he blames himself? But I really don't see how Vision can live without the stone in his head. Maybe he comes back in part two? But how can they keep any of the stones around if they can be used to destroy life the universe and everything? It's been bugging me.
