NOTE: PROMPTING HAS NOW CLOSED, BUT FICS AND FANWORKS MAY STILL BE SUBMITTED THROUGH AUGUST 31ST. THANKS!

Welcome!!!! The time is now upon us. This will kick off a month's worth of prompting and fanworking and all the good things. Not sure what to do? Click below for our handy-dandy Promptathon Guide!

RULES ON POSTING SUBMISSIONS
(please read before you post! <3)

The Rules.  Just follow these three easy steps!

1. Leave a Prompt.

Prompts can be anything--simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases. Anything that, to you, inspires a C/N fanwork. Use your imagination. Go crazy. All I ask is that you keep it tasteful and warn for anything explicit or triggery. Also, try to be as specific as you can with your prompts--this is often very helpful to those creating the fanwork.

And leave as many prompts as you want. I’m serious. Keep coming back, y’all. We want all the prompts we can possibly get Also, be sure to leave each prompt as a separate comment.

2. Wait a week.
Tailgate and chitchat and keep leaving prompts. And mull over the epic fanworks you are creating.

3. Submit C/N fanwork like there is no tomorrow.
All submissions should either be posted here or linked to this post via a comment. The nitty gritty details of posting your stuff can be found HERE. Please read before you post

Timeframe:
Prompts will be accepted starting today, Friday, July 13th (!!!) and will remain open until Friday, August 10th.  Submissions may be submitted beginning on Friday, July 20th and may continue to be submitted until August 10th.

What we hope to accomplish with all this promptathon-iness:

  • A chance to get in the game. Been wanting to jump into the C/N fanwork scene but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. There’s no length requirement on the works submitted, you can focus on drabbles and vidlets and short and sweet projects (or do longer more epic stuff if that strikes your fancy as well).  It’s really entirely up to you. We’re just hoping to provide a fun, no-pressure environment.
  • Meet new and awesome people. Because srsly, I love everyone in this bar. It's a good damn bar. Don't be afraid to say hello
  • Ship like you’ve never shipped before.
  • Tailgate when appropriate. My motto is, if something ain’t a cocktail party, you just aren’t trying hard enough. In that spirit, [livejournal.com profile] aurora_0811and I are hosting the tailgate section (which I think at this point just includes random chatter and ridiculousness, cheerleading and tomfoolery, because I doubt our comm’s talkative nature will be suppressed even during the prompting/waiting period.) So pull up a helicarrier-shaped lawnchair, crack open a cold one and settle in for the festivities. And leave prompts.

And most of all, have fun. :)

Fic: Stop This Ride (3/3), Rating: R, warnings: some violence, sexual content
Early on in Natasha's career, with her escape plans unachievable, the only way to complete the mission and tie up loose ends had been to steal her target's car and drive it off a cliff and into the ocean with herself still in it. Even today she can remember the rush of adrenaline as she sped towards the drop, the way her sweaty hands could barely grip the wheel on the approach, the sickening roll of her stomach as she'd gone over the edge, the chill as the water had closed around her. Nothing to hold on to, no firm footing, everything swaying underneath her and pressing down above her. She escaped, barely, but the experience still ranks as one of the most terrifying in her life.

Loki takes Clint, and Natasha still doesn't know what name to give to the complex tangle of everything that's between them, but she knows exactly what it feels like right now.

--

In amongst everything else that's going on as they try to save the world, Natasha can't help wondering if she and Clint were going too far too fast before, if now is the time for her to jump out before they crash and burn. Perhaps when they get him back, she should end it, because even if they both survive she's got no hold on the steering wheel any more and certainly can't get to the brakes.

Then they get Clint back, and it's like being back on solid ground again. She's weak-kneed with relief to be there but she's had the breath knocked out of her by the ordeal, and so has he. Even as Natasha grips him close, she wonders if either of them can survive a near-miss like this again.

--

The battle is over, the doctors and psychiatrists have cleared them for rest and relaxation, Fury has given everyone three weeks official leave and as much as they want unofficially. Tony has taken Bruce and given everyone else the use of his tower and his transport in exchange, which works well for all concerned.

"Wanna go on a roadtrip?" Clint asks Natasha, when they're the only ones left in the garage.

"Where to?" she asks.

He shrugs. "Anywhere."

"Alright."

The car speeds down the highway, top down, road stretching away from the city and into the horizon far ahead where it's obscured by the orange glow of the setting sun. Clint's got his sunglasses on and he's watching the road as he drives, but he smiles when Natasha reaches over to put a hand on his thigh.

"You OK?" he asks, glancing over at her briefly.

"Not really," she replies.

Clint drops one hand off the wheel to cover hers. "Anything I can do?"

A small smile graces Natasha's lips. Clint's battered and bruised on the inside, and she's the same on the outside, and they should probably be slowing down or pulling over to recover. That's not what she wants though, and not what they need. She can put the brakes on whenever she wants to, but now is not that time.

"Does this thing go any faster?" she asks instead.

Clint grins. "Sure." He presses on the accelerator, and suddenly the roar of the engines and the rush of the wind drown out anything else they could say. Natasha squeezes Clint's hand before he puts it back on the wheel, and then leans back in her seat to watch the world race by around the two of them. Neither of them are in great shape, but he's got his eyes on the road and she's got her eyes on him, which means as long as they're together they can navigate the tough times ahead.

I love this! I love the use of the metaphor, and the insight into their relationship. :D

Simply lovely! How I loved watching this progress, especially the moments Natasha realizes how complicated true friendship is as opposed to the superficial thing she thought was it.

Aw, thank you! I'm glad you liked the part where Natasha works through what true friendship is, that was one of my favourite bits to write :)

I love Natasha's analytical mind at work here. That's so much how I see her. Very measured, checking all the exits and possible ways it could play out, making sure she has an escape plan in place... all of which leads to the epic levels of rationalization going on. It's brilliant and fabulously executed. I love how over the course of this fic she slowly realizes that she's getting in too deep, but still she won't concede the high ground. I love the stubbornness with which she maintains she could still walk away if she needed to. Both of those aspects (the grit/the rationalization) are such a part of who she is.

Just an awesomely realized evolution of their relationship. Huzzah! :D

*loves this comment*

Just an awesomely realized evolution of their relationship. Yay, thank you! *dances* Pretty much that right there is what I wanted to achieve :D

Natasha is definitely very analytical in my mind. I think to be as good as she is at her job, in addition to her physical talents, she has to be fully aware of everything at every time and know the dozens of ways things could play out. When there's emotions involved, it would be even more important to be that way, because the chance of something unexpected coming up is so much the greater. The determination, also, is equally as important. So, I'm glad you liked and agreed with my interpretation of them and their relationship :D

Thank you!
