NOTE: PROMPTING HAS NOW CLOSED, BUT FICS AND FANWORKS MAY STILL BE SUBMITTED THROUGH AUGUST 31ST. THANKS!

Welcome!!!! The time is now upon us. This will kick off a month's worth of prompting and fanworking and all the good things. Not sure what to do? Click below for our handy-dandy Promptathon Guide!

RULES ON POSTING SUBMISSIONS
(please read before you post! <3)

The Rules.  Just follow these three easy steps!

1. Leave a Prompt.

Prompts can be anything--simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases. Anything that, to you, inspires a C/N fanwork. Use your imagination. Go crazy. All I ask is that you keep it tasteful and warn for anything explicit or triggery. Also, try to be as specific as you can with your prompts--this is often very helpful to those creating the fanwork.

And leave as many prompts as you want. I’m serious. Keep coming back, y’all. We want all the prompts we can possibly get Also, be sure to leave each prompt as a separate comment.

2. Wait a week.
Tailgate and chitchat and keep leaving prompts. And mull over the epic fanworks you are creating.

3. Submit C/N fanwork like there is no tomorrow.
All submissions should either be posted here or linked to this post via a comment. The nitty gritty details of posting your stuff can be found HERE. Please read before you post

Timeframe:
Prompts will be accepted starting today, Friday, July 13th (!!!) and will remain open until Friday, August 10th.  Submissions may be submitted beginning on Friday, July 20th and may continue to be submitted until August 10th.

What we hope to accomplish with all this promptathon-iness:

  • A chance to get in the game. Been wanting to jump into the C/N fanwork scene but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. There’s no length requirement on the works submitted, you can focus on drabbles and vidlets and short and sweet projects (or do longer more epic stuff if that strikes your fancy as well).  It’s really entirely up to you. We’re just hoping to provide a fun, no-pressure environment.
  • Meet new and awesome people. Because srsly, I love everyone in this bar. It's a good damn bar. Don't be afraid to say hello
  • Ship like you’ve never shipped before.
  • Tailgate when appropriate. My motto is, if something ain’t a cocktail party, you just aren’t trying hard enough. In that spirit, [livejournal.com profile] aurora_0811and I are hosting the tailgate section (which I think at this point just includes random chatter and ridiculousness, cheerleading and tomfoolery, because I doubt our comm’s talkative nature will be suppressed even during the prompting/waiting period.) So pull up a helicarrier-shaped lawnchair, crack open a cold one and settle in for the festivities. And leave prompts.

And most of all, have fun. :)

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
in context/coherent review: oh clint! clint you are one fucked up impatient darker than realised killer. i never understood him as mcu!fandom portrayed him. it just never stood in line with renner's take on barton (reasons i love this 'verse so much) his instinct for torturing information out of someone because it wasn't moving fast enough and he was worried. that's impulse. he's so meticulous with detail in everything that when he gets blindsided by natasha, it's what gets him in trouble. should've seen it earlier coulson.

Whut? Where did I miss something - this is intriguing the HELL out of me...

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
i was being overtly myopic in extrapolating from this: Clint reaches for the knife on his belt. as a display of his impatience and probably prefered method of a quick and dirty interrogation. it speaks to the darker nature of being a master assassin and lines up with my head canon of movie!clint.

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
Oh, I meant about how Renner interprets him vs. MCU? I think I may've missed an interview somewhere... :)

mcu = movie cinematic universe. sorry, i keep using that acronym and having to explain it. forgive my ineptitude.

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
Annnnnnnnnnd I'm just going to jump in here and agree with you all over the place. I've always seen movie!Clint/renner!clint as the scary silent dude in the corner with the big fucking knife. Natasha is deadly, no doubt, but she's the the scalpel to his sledgehammer-- and he's also the backup if carnage is the order of the day. I see their spy/assassin roles as very different from each other (not that they don't have shared skill sets, but we're talking preferences here).

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
yeh-heh-eeessss! reasons they function well as a team. complimentary contradictions. it speaks volumes in their weapons of choice/method. but they could do both. they have the ability to switch off depending on the circumstance.

**fistbump of solidarity**

complimentary contradictions indeed.

Hey-- did you see? [livejournal.com profile] sugar_fey wrote an epilogue of sorts to this series. It's up here:

She knocked it out of the park.

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
Let me see if I'm understanding this..... (as i've only ever been on the periphery of mcu!fandom)...

are you drawing a distinction between mcu!clint and movie!clint with movie!clint being the darker, more obscure variety (ie, Renner's way of portraying him in the man with no name, seven samurai vein)? b/c mcu!clint seems much more bantery and lighthearted and smartass and just... well, light. and it's interesting to see that in the movie!fandom as well-- you tend to see him played two different ways even in the movie fandom, some of it with a more comics/light bent and some with a more (for lack of a better term) renner/dark bent.

is that of what you speak?

(and in case you haven't guessed, i'm definitely in favor of the latter. *g*)

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
mcu = movie cinematic universe. sorry, i keep thinking that everyone understands that acronym and i inevitably have to explain myself. *reins in the geek*

from what i've seen in fandom's portrayal of clint, especially after thor, had him very jokey and clowning. that's a bit more in line with comic canon. however, when you get to know him and his background is revealed in detail, you understand the deep underlying reason for his flippant jokey behaviour. renner's portrayal has always struck me as settled? for the lack of a better term. he finds a refuge of sorts in working for shield. not exactly a safe place to lick his wounds but safe enough to disconnect. being removed from feelings and certain mores are all part and parcel of an assassin life, right? movie!barton seems like a man who's come to terms with what he's done/who he's become and is trying his best to accept it. this probably has to do with renner's preference for roles that are conflicted/typically described as loose cannons and me reading more into it because THIS MAN.

Re: FIC: softly she carries me (rated R for language)
Gotchya. Makes perfect sense and I agree. I like the darker, more settled, more "I'm a deep damn well and I'm cool with that" take on him. And mostly because yes. THAT MAN.
