NOTE: PROMPTING HAS NOW CLOSED, BUT FICS AND FANWORKS MAY STILL BE SUBMITTED THROUGH AUGUST 31ST. THANKS!

Welcome!!!! The time is now upon us. This will kick off a month's worth of prompting and fanworking and all the good things. Not sure what to do? Click below for our handy-dandy Promptathon Guide!

RULES ON POSTING SUBMISSIONS
(please read before you post! <3)

The Rules.  Just follow these three easy steps!

1. Leave a Prompt.

Prompts can be anything--simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases. Anything that, to you, inspires a C/N fanwork. Use your imagination. Go crazy. All I ask is that you keep it tasteful and warn for anything explicit or triggery. Also, try to be as specific as you can with your prompts--this is often very helpful to those creating the fanwork.

And leave as many prompts as you want. I’m serious. Keep coming back, y’all. We want all the prompts we can possibly get Also, be sure to leave each prompt as a separate comment.

2. Wait a week.
Tailgate and chitchat and keep leaving prompts. And mull over the epic fanworks you are creating.

3. Submit C/N fanwork like there is no tomorrow.
All submissions should either be posted here or linked to this post via a comment. The nitty gritty details of posting your stuff can be found HERE. Please read before you post

Timeframe:
Prompts will be accepted starting today, Friday, July 13th (!!!) and will remain open until Friday, August 10th.  Submissions may be submitted beginning on Friday, July 20th and may continue to be submitted until August 10th.

What we hope to accomplish with all this promptathon-iness:

  • A chance to get in the game. Been wanting to jump into the C/N fanwork scene but not sure where to start? Now’s the time. There’s no length requirement on the works submitted, you can focus on drabbles and vidlets and short and sweet projects (or do longer more epic stuff if that strikes your fancy as well).  It’s really entirely up to you. We’re just hoping to provide a fun, no-pressure environment.
  • Meet new and awesome people. Because srsly, I love everyone in this bar. It's a good damn bar. Don't be afraid to say hello
  • Ship like you’ve never shipped before.
  • Tailgate when appropriate. My motto is, if something ain’t a cocktail party, you just aren’t trying hard enough. In that spirit, [livejournal.com profile] aurora_0811and I are hosting the tailgate section (which I think at this point just includes random chatter and ridiculousness, cheerleading and tomfoolery, because I doubt our comm’s talkative nature will be suppressed even during the prompting/waiting period.) So pull up a helicarrier-shaped lawnchair, crack open a cold one and settle in for the festivities. And leave prompts.

And most of all, have fun. :)

Holy shit, woman.

Just... holy shit.

Don't you dare apologize. This is fucking amazing. I can't even form coherent thoughts right now.

I'm serious. I just ... gah.

(and dammit-- I really needed those last few brain cells too.)

And how did you make it even better and more descriptive and more guh with LESS WORDS? WHAT IS THIS MANNER OF SORCERY????

So much writerly envy right now. Eeeep!

Re: FIC: switch (rated r for sex, knives, rope and fail)
Dude, it has totally surpassed the source material. It's dense and difficult and hot and compelling and ALL THE THINGS IT SHOULD BE.

All with less words. **shakes fists of impotent rage at the sky, all dramatic-like**

And you know what we've got to do, right? (b/c we are totally in this together now-- you see how I just did that?) I'm dying to know what's going on in Clint's head in the midst of this dance fo theirs. We need to sort this shit out, stat.

Re: FIC: switch (rated r for sex, knives, rope and fail)
*blinks*

This is a fic you would count as being a fail? That's really not the word I would use to describe it! So very very far from it in fact!

Gorgeous images, hot like whoa, fantastic interpretation of their relationship; I love this huge amounts. Just... yeah. It's pretty damn awesome.

Re: FIC: switch (rated r for sex, knives, rope and fail)
*grins* I'm always so envious of the people who can create such stunning works with a minimum of words, which I am pretty much incapable of doing. I read works like yours and go "How? How do they do this?! There is no unnecessary rambling, and all the important and relevant things are still there, and it's so vivid. It's a miracle!".

So, yeah, I can see why you'd feel disappointed at not being able to write anything longer, but it's definitely not the case that shorter is worse.

Um... You consider this a fail? Because it left me going pretty incoherent. Love the language you use!

Re: FIC: switch (rated r for sex, knives, rope and fail)
I...I...I just lost the ability to form words. Okay *breathes*. Wow.

She feels the knot of arousal come loose inside of herself and unravel into nothing That without the edge of pain, without someone else 'tainted' that it's just, almost, a chore for her. The static in her ear, doing it for a mission, and at the outset she might have enjoyed it but she can't because this person doesn't fit, isn't what she needs.

Take what you want and the braclets hiding the rope marks. I. I just. And routine and He knows what she likes and sometimes he only knows what he wants and this is always the same thing. That they're on the same page, they fit. And trust and that last line, like benediction and worship. Almost like that concerned 'What happened?' at the start, gentle worship of her, contrasted with this, with worshipping not a person but the trust between them, this thing between them, just. You marvel :D

Re: FIC: switch (rated r for sex, knives, rope and fail)
I'm not down with worshipping another person being healthy, even though I know that two probably aren't mentally healthy, but worshipping a trust, a joy, a feeling? Isn't that where religion starts? *thinky thoughts*

Yeah, just, THE FIC. It does this to me :D

That *would* be the bunny, yes. ;) Time to put those years of religious anthropology classes/clerical training to work...

Oh man, the imagery and emotion behind this are incredible. It's almost like I can physically feel it all. I love this so so much. You did an incredible job! NOT EVEN CLOSE TO LAME OR ABRUPT. Just gorgeous and hot!

Re: FIC: switch (rated r for sex, knives, rope and fail)
Ohmyfuckinggod. This is just... uhn.

This bit:

“I want to try something different.”

He takes her hand and places it to the target. His rough fingers draw friction against the lines about her wrist.

He slowly walks away, turning and testing the weight of the blade in his hand. “Do you trust me?” he says.

She closes her eyes and splays her fingers like a benediction.

Just undoes me.

I'm sorry...Lame? Abrupt?? Dude. No. Awesome and punchy and powerful and fantastic, more like! Never apologise for being concise, brevity is a gift not a curse. It's one I certainly don't have and I am full of admiration for writers like you. In fact I'm full of admiration for pretty much everything of yours that I've read. Love love. And that last line just kills me.
