PSA: Jeremy and Scarlett are both left handed

...and thus, so are Clint and Natasha. :D

I shared this with Tumblr ages ago, and on a random comm thread from yesterday, but it's been brought to my attention that this Very Important Information is not widely known. So! Making it its own thing in the comm.

Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson are BOTH left handed. I think most people are aware about Renner; Johansson less so. Fun fact to know in general, but also useful for fic-writing purposes to know our favorite assassins' dominant hand.

LOL, it is from Pink's completely ridiculous Trouble (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFu3YzRnyDU) video, which is only watchable because Jeremy is smoking hot in it. HE CAN EVEN MAKE GUYLINER LOOK GOOD.

I'm proud of Pink for having good taste, though.

The bow thing is technically about being left or right eyed and has nothing to do with dominant hand. My son is right eyed and handed, so he shoots right handed. My daughter, if she cared about shooting, is right handed but left eyed and so would shoot left handed.

That being said, ANY excuse to post more Jeremy pictures! Besides, they probably didn't look that far into it for the movie, since it's just a movie, and went with his dominant hand as opposed to eye. And those happen to be some VERY lovely pictures of Jeremy as Hawkeye.

I totally love they're both lefties.

How interesting re: the eye! I'm left handed and I guess left eyed too (I've just never thought about it that way), but I figured it was a result of my being oriented left, period. Now I realize I shouldn't have assumed that, considering I use scissors with my right hand, so I know for a fact that there can be variations. Thanks for setting me straight!

Oh I wasn't really trying to set anyone straight, perse. I'm just a font of completely useless information and I like to share the wealth.

I always found it kind of fascinating that your dominant hand doesn't dictate your dominant eye. I think it's something like 30% or more of the population have opposite dominance.

And let's not even talk about those that are ambidextrous... that's a whole other category of entirely useless information.

*points to self* Right-handed, left-eye dominant. Man, that would SUCK if I ever tried archery! LOL Given that I have negative upper-body strength, though, I think the world is safe. Yay for the 30 percent!!

I'm pretty sure he switches hands with his bow between Thor and Avengers, too, so I put him down as trained to be ambidextrous (not that that helps with the dominant eye issue, but I'm guessing you can be trained to use both?)

Not that I'm any expert, but I would say yes. A very simple example is using a mouse with either hand, which I do all the time.

*nodnods* I'm extremely right-handed/right-eyed, so I...struggle using my left hand a lot (a beautiful thing when you have RSI in your right wrist, let me assure you) and wasn't sure.

there was a long article about Jeremy/Hawkeye and his bow use (basically the author was not impressed by the trailers, then he wrote a follow up where he said the actual movie bow use was *much* better) but he talked about hand/eye dominance and suggested Jeremy might be left-handed/right eye dominant which is why the author had issues with some of his bow positions.

It's important to have a lot of evidence to support your argument. It's only valid if you can prove that left hand use is not situation.
