The Scene
Below is my transcript of the Loki Clint strategy scene.

Selvig: (yadda yadda) it's truth!

Loki: I know. I know. It... touches everyone, differently. What did it show you, Agent Barton?

Clint: My next target

Selvig (chuckling): stick in the mud, he's got no soul no wonder you chose this, this tomb to work in.

Clint (annoyed): Well the Radisson doesn't have three levels of lead-lined flooring between SHIELD and that Cube.

Loki: I see why Fury chose you to guard it.

::Clint and Loki start walking away from Selvig.::

Clint: You're gonna have to contend with him, sir. As long as he's in the air, I can't pin him down. They're going to be putting together a team.

Loki: They a threat?

Clint: To each other, more than likely, but if Fury can get them on track, and he might, they could throw some noise our way.

Loki: You admire Fury.

Clint: He's got a clear line of sight.

Loki: Is that why you failed to kill him?

::pauses, stops walking::

Clint: It might be. ::pauses:: I was disoriented. And... I'm not at my best with a gun.

Loki:(obviously feeling a full-on Shakespearian monology coming on): I want to know everything you can tell me about this team of his. I would... test their mettle.

::Clint nods once::

Loki:I grow weary of scuttling in shadow. I mean to rule this world, not burrow in it.

Clint: It's a risk.

Loki: Oh yes.

Clint: If you're set on making yourself known... it could be useful.

Loki:(positively, frightenly into this): Tell me what you need.

::Clint walks over to his bow case::

Clint: I need a distraction. And an eyeball.

No problem. :)

Clint, Clint, Clint, "not your best with a gun" doesn't mean you are at all bad with one, so Iiiii am wondering if he's doing a little "bullshit to the officer who won't quite get things" here.

*eyes him*

Also, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I actually have a bit of issue with processing things I hear (particularly with videos - oh, subtitles, I love you), so scripts are just awesome <3

Snicker. Yes, absolutely this. :)

And you're very welcome! :D

Same thing! I ave the same problem, especially if an actor or actress has an accent, so subtitles work wonders for me.

I was wondering if Clint was still fighting the Loki controlled Robot!Clint. Not his best with gun, ha. Also, he totally does admire Fury.
Ashen Key[personal profile] ashen_key on August 22nd, 2012 09:26 pm (UTC)
Well, I don't see it as Robot!Clint - there could be some fighting, subconsciously, but the spell seems to take them over so it's still them, still them thinking and doing everything. Just focused. But a subconscious fight could be very interesting.

Subtitles are just wonderful things *hugs them*

Nod nod nod. This is why I like the term someone coined - "heartwashing" instead of brainwashing.

(I really like being able to have subtitles when I can't figure something out, but generally don't watch things with them turned on because I "read" instead of watching the scene/expressions/body language etc. I'm apparently physically incapable of looking away from words if they're there. ;) )
Ashen Key[personal profile] ashen_key on August 23rd, 2012 10:18 pm (UTC)
Heartwashing is the best term ever.

(*nodnods* Yeah, I used to do that - I'm able to glance back and forth a lot better now.)
[identity profile] anuna-81.livejournal.com on August 23rd, 2012 06:37 pm (UTC)
Ack, wrong words. What I meant to say, Clint reminds me of a robot, sometimes a little bit and sometimes a lot, while he's under Loki's control. His movements, the way he speaks, the way he looks - it seems that heartwashed!Clint is so focused on one thing, in order to avoid that inner struggle. But the real Clint is definitely in there; he misses Fury in the beginning, and toward the end I fear he was losing the fight. When Natasha knocked his head against the metal railing, I think it messed up Loki's balance and control for real Clint to break through enough to say "Tasha" (or "Natasha"? I must rewatch, with subtitles).

We may think the same or similar things about this - thinky thoughts for the win!
Ashen Key[personal profile] ashen_key on August 23rd, 2012 10:08 pm (UTC)
Oooh, gotcha. I just saw him in more of a "very focused, very serious" work-mode without the comfort of his team or underlings he could trust and under a lot of pressure.

Re: Fury, I tend to not see it as 'missing' as so much as 'disorientated from spell, the torso is the biggest target; getting shot would still knock Fury off his feet and possibly break things, and the room is about to collapse so he might as well be dead; most importantly, is he out of action.' But I tend to see Clint as a soldier whom other people call assassin - in a firefight or a confrontation like that, you just want the other guy out of action. If it means wounded, it means wounded; if it means dead, it means dead. At least that's my view - lots of people view it differently *laughs* But I do agree that the 'fight' as it were was pretty much lost by the time he is doing his utter best to killed Natasha.

(And he says 'Taaahsha'! the 'natasha' isn't until they are in the recovery room)

I really doubt that the "World's Greatest Marksman" couldn't shoot Fury in the head if he wanted to, just because he's using a different weapon. SHIELD wouldn't let him out into the field if he couldn't make the scores on the range, even if he's not as accurate as with the bow, any more than a police force or any other armed forces would.

Especially since they walked past him on the way out-Clint could have stopped and shot him again, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the transcript. :)

I know, right!? (Have been saying this for months. My husband argued with me about it. He's silly. ;) )

You're welcome!

Oh I totally think Clint missed on purpose.
[identity profile] bethbethbeth.livejournal.com on August 22nd, 2012 12:54 pm (UTC)
I was doing this at the same time, so...if you want to make a few changes (or at least double check what I think should be changes):

* I know. I know. It... touches everyone, differently. What did it show you, Agent Barton?

(Loki only says "I know " once and "it" twice. So: "I know. It...it touches everyone differently."

* Loki:I grow weary of scuttling in shadow. I mean to rule this world, not burrow in it.

(No "grow." Just "I weary of scuttling in shadow.")

Otherwise, we have it pretty much the same. The only other thing I was wondering about was "Loki: They a threat?" I've played the clip over a number of times, and I still can't tell if Hiddles is swallowing the word "Are" at the start of the sentence or if he's really just not saying it. Leaving it out of the sentence would seem out of character for Loki, but...well. :)

Nodnod. You're probably right about those things (and I also thought the "They a threat" seemed odd) - I was going for speed over accuracy since [livejournal.com profile] sugar_fey was getting a bit desperate. ;)

I bet he is swallowing the "are" there. That makes far more sense.
