ATTF: Hi, my name is ... Joss?
For today's Friday, you have just landed a new job. And not just any job. You've be hired to write the Avengers 2 script.

What storylines do you what to see? What villains? What drama?

...and most importantly (for the residents of this bar), what should happen with Clint and Natasha? Is their long-term existing relationship revealed? (secret marriages anyone?) Do they finally overcome all that buddycop UST and get together? Do we learn more about their past? Is there dramarama?

Tell me!!!  (someone please put me out of my misery and bring that Loki gif to the comments)

And go forth and have fun. <3

----

Adminny-min stuff to remember:
1) Always label NSFW (Not Safe For Work) stuff in the title and post under a cut.
2) Fic and artwork needs to have a rating and warnings (or you can say that you’ve chosen not to use warnings).
3) For people with annoying internet connections, say in the title if a comment is graphic/images/gif-heavy and post picspams under a cut.
4) Have a damn good time! (Because if that’s not happening then this post has clearly failed.)

Re: This is Joss
...maybe THIS is why there's going to be an Ant Man film ;)

I do think that characters dying can show just how not easy defeating the bad guys is, ramps up the audience tension and fear as they think anyone could be next, all that jazz. I've read one of the earlier scripts for Serenity which does that have that incident of which we do not speak and yeah, the final script was better. That said, I don't think that necessarily means people always have to die. Sometimes just knowing that this is Joss Whedon is now enough to ramp up that tense expectation, because the audience already know that he will consider killing people off. And what about people outside of the main six? Look out Pepper, Darcy, Jane...

LOL FOREVER AND EVER.

YOU IZ A GENIUS.

True, but I think it's almost expected at this point. I just compelling, original writing that makes whatever happens feel earned. And I actually have a lot of high hopes that we will get that.

Re: This is Joss

Rofl. For a Clintasha hangout, we do a great sideline of hating on Ant Man.

Characters dying does do all of that, but it doesn't have to be main person, it can be a new SHIELD recruit that the TV show audience knows even. I can see the movie starting from a "redshirt" perspective with a random agent waking up and going through duties that coincidentally bring the audience up to date if they (for whatever wimpy reason, haven't watched the intervening Marvel films or SHIELD tv show), then having the redshirt killed off by a minion of X Bad Guy. Roll title sequence.

Re: This is Joss
Yes, that sound like a perfect way to go about it :D Totally possible and acceptable from my point of view!

Re: This is Joss
I'm glad you were able to make sense of that mess of words and thoughts!

Re: This is Joss
You know I can make sense of whatever you write ;) It's my superpower ;D But seriously, I really like this idea. I'd say there is a real possibility of this happening too, what with the Shield series and everything.

Re: This is Joss
Yah, the SHIELD series is my hope for getting all the awesome ladies that I love in the Marvel universe who don't look like they'll be showing up anytime soon.

Yes, mine too. So much awesome yet to be seen!

Re: This is Joss

LMAO.

I don't even know how it came about. It's look poor Ant-Man took all the brunt of our anger for us not getting a Black Widow movie. And hell, now it's like a fandom pastime, lol.

Re: This is Joss
Yeah, I think we were all like "No Black Widow movie? So, that means a Hawkeye movie, right? Wait, WTF?! ANT MAN?! DIE!!!" Or maybe just me...

Re: This is Joss
No, i think that's a pretty accurate recall of what happened, lol.

Re: This is Joss
Oh wait, sorry, replied above before I saw this :) Yeah, it's hate on the Ant Man film *grins*.

Re: This is Joss
I have no opinion on ant man except this prophetic line: "Ant? Boot."

Maybe we can kill off Rhodey, if someone Good We All Like has to be sacrificed? He's already changed beyond all recognition between IM1 and 2 ...

Just saying.

Re: This is Joss
I don't mean to hate on anyone, I just don't see the point in having an Ant Man film before we've had a Hawkeye or a Black Widow film. We've got all these great characters that can played with, and they want to introduce another one in a film of there own? Why? :S I do dislike Ant Man and Reed Richards, but yeah, my hate is for the Ant Man film :)

Ooo, now that's a thought. And that would be a good way of catching people up when you have a big blockbuster film where some people might not have seen all the lead ups.

Re: This is Joss
Yeah, same with you on the dislike versus hate.

Re: This is Joss
Ant Man will likely be done partially as a 1960's era Tales to Astonish piece, with flashbacks and flashforwards between with Pym as the original and Lang as his sucessor, It isn't confirmed yet if the movie will fall in MCU continuity, but rumoured release date means it falls after A2's release date. Phase 3 for Marvel so far is only confirmed Ant Man and Doc Strange. But you have the possibility of Black Panther, Hulk, Heroes for Hire, Punisher, Daredevil (chance for a Black Widow cameo there), Blade, Vision, Fantastic Four and Runaways as potential rumoured Marvel vehicles that may be developed moving forward.

Re: This is Joss
After Avengers 2? Hmm, interesting. Hopefully Ant Man will mean Janet - more ladies in the mix would be nice :) Black Panther, yes please, and I keep meaning to read Runaways, have to add that to the to-read list. See, Daredevil and a Winter Solider film might mean space for Natasha to play, but I'd love for her to have her own film to play in. Ah well.

Whedon
was rumoured to want to have Wasp featured in his original Avengers draft, but was told he had to work with Hawkeye as it had already been set up with the Thor cameo. So that is why you had Hawkeye as almost a non-entity with the brainwashed character with limited screen time. He had to somehow work Clint in to his story, as he hadn't planned for it in his original idea of how the movie would go. It's also why you have quotes about Renner wanting to play the character he was originally sold on, the Hawkeye role was planned by Marvel but not by Whedon.

Re: This is Joss
I would prefer the earlier version of Serenity. That incident we do not speak of is pointless and wasteful, and nothing can convince me that there was anything to it but shock value.

Yeah, eight years later, and I'm still mad.

Also, unpopular opinion, but killing Darcy off wouldn't bother me. And nobody stays dead in the comics but Uncle Ben. :)

Re: This is Joss
I'll link you to this script then :) The incident of which we do not speak hurt...but the fact that Joss made it hurt? Good writing. And it did ramp up the tension for me *shrugs*. (I make people new to Firefly watch all of the show before the BDM, because they get the most that way, but also so that incident bites. Um, because I am mean.)

I think Joss could make me care about anyone kicking the bucket, heh.

Re: This is Joss
Sorry, nope, that development felt schlocky to me, and always will. Caring about a character is good and all, and their death hurting is good writing, but that death always goes for shock value for me over storytelling. :)

Fair enough :) I had high hopes for Float Out after, but nope *sigh* naff comic.

Re: This is Joss
I still laugh at how Jayne goes out. I haven't read any of the supplemental stuff because I kind of want Firefly to go away. I like it and all, but any time you have a science-fiction talk, somebody always shows up to talk about how unfair the cancellation of Firefly is, usually by claiming it's 10 times better than whatever show you were talking about in the first place. I enjoy it, too, but you don't hear Twilight Zone fans bitching about how Rod Serling got the shaft from the network in every. single. conversation. even. remotely. related. to. it.

:)

Re: This is Joss
I love Firefly, I love that it got enough of a following to get a film, the little tv show that could *grins*, and yeah, the whole bundle of wonderful. Longer tv shows though, they start great, peak, and then trail off until you wish they'd quiet whilst they were ahead, and I don't know if Firefly would have gotten such a cult following if it hadn't been cancelled. Like, Dollhouse. Season One is rather meh. Season two starts off slow and then rockets into brilliance, which I swear is because they'd found out they were getting cancelled, or might be getting cancelled, and so Joss just went for it, went for tying things up and went for what he wanted to do rather than pleasing the network. A case of cancellation was good for the show, maybe. There's always going to be unfair network and production stuff. (And always going to be fans who claim their stuff is the best.) To me, it's how things impact the creative process.
